Anwar Shah
Present Positions:
Lead economist and program/team leader for public sector governance at
the World Bank Institute, Washington, D.C.
Fellow of the Institute for Public Economics, Alberta
Anwar Shah has previously served the Canadian Ministry of Finance in Ottawa
and the Government of the Province of Alberta, Canada and held responsibilities
for federal-provincial and provincial-local fiscal relations respectively.
He has also advised the Governments of Australia, Argentina, Brazil, China,
India, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Poland and Turkey on the reform of
their fiscal systems. He is currently serving as the fiscal federalism
theme coordinator of the Global Dialogue on Federalism by the Forum of
Federations and the World Bank. He has published extensively on fiscal
federalism, local governance, public and environmental economics issues.
