The 69th Annual Congress of the International Institute of Public Finance was held in Taormina/Sicily, Italy, from August 22 through 25, 2013.

Its Local Organizing Committee was chaired by Pietro Navarra (University of Messina, Sicily), while its Scientific Committee was chaired by Jorge Martinez-Vazquez (Georgia State University). Pranab Bardhan, Robin Boadway, Ravi Kanbur, Michael Keen and Dan Treisman gave keynote speeches. The overall theme was “The Role of the State in Growth and Development”, but as always contributed papers from all fields of public finance were welcome.
